The Goaliest Goal

Tis the season for fresh starts and new ideas. Whether we make resolutions to better ourselves, draft new habit trackers to fix whatever ails us, or vision boards to keep us goal-oriented, the new year feels like an excellent starting point. The calendar shows a new number and we're enthusiastic to seize and spot all those opportunities the new year might offer.

This year we're most excited about the year's worth of reading. On this episode we discussed two different ways to select our next read off our To Be Read lists. (TBRs)

First there's Roll for Reading. Ever watched Roll for Sandwich? Same vibe. But about books. Feel free to download these free guides. No emails to provide. The link leads to a PDF.

Second there's TBR Scratchers. It's like a lottery ticket but instead of winning money, you win the chance to select a new book. This is how Gwenna will be choosing her books this year. At least she will until she forgets they exist and goes back to picking based on vibes and chaos. Get yours on Amazon (that's our affiliate link and we may make a little Bezos cash if you use it.)

In case none of those float your boat, here are a few more TBR choosers not discussed on the episode (See we told you there'd be bonus content in the expanded show note.)

  • Use https://wheelofnames.com/ to create a custom wheel with book titles (or number corresponding to where it land on your list)

  • Book Jar - This one is a classic. Write your TBR on slips of paper, drop them in a jar, draw your next read out. This one is old school. However I add an additional layer of non-book slips. Sometimes I get to buy a new book or book trophy. Sometimes it's a little treat my book jar gives me. Sometimes I add my favorite re-reads on the slips.

  • Book Deck - get a deck of playing cards. Write one title per card. Shuffle each time you need to choose a new read.

If you're interested in enrolling your tiny human in Dolly's Imagination Library, you can visit their website. Input your zip code, they'll automatically find where you can enroll and walk you through how to get books sent to your emergent reader.
